World Luge Championships 2021 moved to German Koenigssee

The World Luge Championship has been moved from Whistler in Canada to Koenigssee in Germany, according to the website of the International Luge Federation.

The FIL Executive Committee made this decision in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. The competition will be held on January 29-31.

Earlier, FIL announced that the World Cup would not be held in Canada due to continuing restrictions on international communications in the country due to the coronavirus pandemic.
FIL also published the World Cup schedule, which looks like this:

first stage-November 28-29-Innsbruck (Austria),
second stage-December 5-6 – Altenberg (Germany),
third stage-December 12-13-Oberhof (Germany),
fourth stage-December 19-20-Winterberg (Germany),
stage five-January 2-3-Koenigssee,
sixth stage (combined with the European championship) – January 9-10-Sigulda (Latvia),
stage seven-January 16-17-Oberhof or Lake Placid (USA),
stage eight-January 23-24-Innsbruck,
the ninth stage – February 20-21-Beijing.
